Welcome to ‘Travel into Bedouin Life’
This blog is about my life in the small town St. Katharine in the high mountains of Sinai and the trips I am offering.
I have always enjoyed travelling, learning new languages, meeting people from different cultures. In the past I have worked as a computer trainer and e-learning consultant in Germany, Ireland, USA and Egypt. My love for hiking in the mountains, for the bedouin people and the beauty and energy of the mountains of Sinai brought me here.
I used to be a volunteer with the bedouin trek organisation Sheikh Sina. Since the summer of 2011 I am back in Berlin and offer trips to my beloved mountains.
As I feel close to the bedouin women and love the typical local handicraft, most of my trips will combine hikes, the opportunity to meet bedouin women in their house or garden and handicraft workshops.
I would like to
- help the bedouin women to create income for themselves and at the same time - through teaching their skills – to strengthen their ties to the traditions.
- give visitors to this region the opportunity to ‘really’ meet the bedouin and learn about their traditions and life.
- enjoy myself the encounters, learn more about the ways of how people from different cultures meet and what can come out of this.
